Final Report:

Summary:

The S.T.E.P.S. Building was redesigned in several alternative ways. A vibration resistant floor was designed for specific laboratory tolerances for sensitive equipment. This could be utilized in the nanotechnology lab in S.T.E.P.S. to minimize the effects of floor vibrations. The lateral system was also redesigned from semi-rigid wind clips in both directions to a braced frame system in one direction and a moment frame system in the other direction. Typical connections were then designed for these lateral elements. Lastly, two breadths were assessed: construction and electrical. For the construction breadth, a full project schedule and a sitemap were produced. A panelboard schedule and preliminary electrical system sizing were accomplished in the electrical breadth.
